Herbert Boerner Memorial Service
There will be a memorial service tomorrow, Friday, October 20 at 10:30 at Concordial Lutheran Church Maplewood, 7291 Sarah Street. A few words from his son about his father:
Herbert N Boerner was a 2nd generation member at Concordia Lutheran Church as well as his parents Adolph and Majorie Boerner. Between them their membership spanned over 80 years. Herbert participated in many church functions and assisted in important decisions that preserved the Lutheran way of thinking for many ways. He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Lynn Schwatka (Leroy Schwatka), Son Christopher Alan Boerner (Becky Boerner) and three grandchildren Sophia Lee Schwatka, Elijah Kar Schwatka, and Tyler Jordan Boerner. He also leaves behind his sister Lillian McGrath. He was a proud member of the United States Air Force and spent some time in Germany during the Korean War. He fought through several health issues over the years with the help of support groups, family and friends. He also loved to take pictures to document the many experiences he faced in his life both positive and negative. He researched his ailments and took pictures and asked many questions. He wanted to deeply understand everything that was going on with himself. He was very knowledgeable in computers and technology and often went to classes and seminars with some buddies to advance his computer skills. Herbert was also a stock market enthusiast. He diligently studied patterns, market fluctuations and trends to amass many successful dividends over the years. He lived in Maplewood for most of his life and supported his community whenever the opportunity arose. Herbert was a loving father, grandfather, brother, son and friend to all of us and will be deeply missed.
